Similarly, the agency estimates popular TV channels across the country by detailing several thousand frequencies. The agency uses a special type of gadget to measure TRP.

The TRP measuring device is called the People Meter. With the help of 20 meters, the habits of people watching TV are monitored.

The “People Meter” is installed at certain locations to measure the TRP, through a frequency that detects which serials are being watched and how often.

Every minute information related to TV from this meter is sent to the Indian Television Audience Measurement Agency through the monitoring team. After getting this information, the team decides which channel has the highest TRP.

The list of the most popular channels is made according to Television Rating Points (TRP) and then the data of the top 10 TRP TV serials, channels is made public by Weekly or Monthly.

Today, only INTAM (Indian Television Audience Measurement) is the only agency that measures TRP. This is how TRP is calculated.

What is the importance of TRP? (TRP Importance in Hindi)

TRP is given so much importance because it is directly related to the revenue of the channel. The TRP of a channel which gets fewer viewership drops and it gets less advertising.

TRP is most important to advertisers. Because it helps them to know easily on which channel they will get the maximum benefit from placing ads.
